The Inspiration

Born and raised in beautiful Puerto Rico, I’ve had the chance to witness some truly awe-inspiring Caribbean sunsets and sunrises. As an artist, the splendor of those colors and hues streaking across the sky immediately inspired me to paint. Spending mornings and afternoons in front of the ocean, I’ve come to appreciate the shades of green and emerald in the mountains and the beauty to be found in the tropical island. I believe this in part has infused in me the desire to utilize the bold and vibrant shades of color that are present in my work.

Later in life, I moved to New England and was greeted by a different kind of beauty. Many things here inspire me and move me. I try to capture the changing of the seasons and brilliant colors present in the trees and foliage of the fall. I have painted the crisp and cold white of the snow on the mountains during winter, and the pops of color that happen during the beginning of life in the spring. I also have captured the bronzed and warm changes that happen during a sun-kissed summer. A lot of my landscapes also reflect night, silver moon shining and secrets present in the shadows.

I’ve been fortunate to visit many different places and experience the unique colors, textures, and patterns that are present in those places. While you’ll find tropical landscape paintings in my collections, you’ll also find the occasional orange grove or Floridian sunset, or the magnificent colors of an underwater world. I use my landscape paintings to capture the majesty of those places as well, resulting in many different types of landscapes. I love painting seascapes, mountains, valleys, hills, and nature in every way. It’s my hope that my paintings evoke a sense of the place that I’ve painted whether it’s peaceful, vibrant with life, secluded, or tropical.
